Hopkinsville gas station robbed Sunday morning

For the second time this year, a Russellville Road convenience store has been robbed at gunpoint.

Hopkinsville Police say a male suspect went into the Kangaroo Mart on 68 around 2:15 this morning and robbed the clerk at gunpoint.

A vehicle pursuit ensued by police, though the suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. More details will be released to media with the official report.

Woman arrested after 2-year old found walking alone on street

A Hopkinsville woman was arrested on wanton endangerment charges yesterday morning after her 2-year old was allegedly found walking alone on Lafayette Road.           

Officers were called to the MaxFuel Express on Lafayette Road around 7:30 to the report of a small child walking alone and unsupervised. About two hours later, the child’s grandmother called the ECC looking for the little boy.

That led Hopkinsville Police to the mother—21-year old Sierra Chambers of Hopkinsville—who said she had been out Friday night and left her son in the care of relatives who are 14 and 15 years old.

The toddler apparently walked away after the teen babysitters fell asleep, with the boy found wearing only a t-shirt and a diaper. Chambers was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment and lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Thanksgiving wreck injures one

A wreck Thanksgiving morning on Fort Campbell Boulevard injured a Hopkinsville woman.

The incident happened just before 3:30 at the I-24 westbound exit ramp, according to the report from Hopkinsville Police, which says 24-year old Keir Majors of Hopkinsville was northbound on the boulevard and apparently didn’t see the stopped vehicle of 24-year old Kahla Frendt of Hopkinsville.

Police say there were no skid marks indicating Majors ever tried to stop and that he rear-ended Frendt’s car.

Ms. Frendt was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries to the head and face, while her two passengers and Majors went uninjured. Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS SET FOR WHOP EARLY BIRD CO-HOST

Funeral arrangements are now set for long-time Early Bird Show Co-host Dave Ralston.

Services will be Monday morning at 11 a.m. at Maddox-Fuqua Hinton Funeral Home with burial to follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dave died Wednesday afternoon at Jennie Stuart Medical Center after a long illness.

CLARKSVILLE MAN CRASHES VEHICLE INTO CHURCH

A Clarksville man was booked into the Montgomery County Jail for allegedly driving drunk and crashing his vehicle into a church.

According to Clarksville Police, around 1:15 am this morning, officers responded to a call about a van being inside of a church and when officers arrived on scene, they found a Ford Astro van inside one of the walls of Galilean Church, located at 130 South 10^th Street.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, 28-year old Herbert Earl Minor was still inside of the vehicle when officers arrived and was obviously intoxicated and had to be physically removed from his damaged vehicle.

According to police, Minor had drove his vehicle off the roadway near 9^th and Franklin Street, drove over three curbs and then crashed his vehicle into the church.

Due to his level of intoxication, police transported Minor to Gateway Medical Center and upon his release, police say warrants for his arrest will be served on him for driving under the influence, second offense and implied consent.
