Man arrested for DUI a third time

Law enforcement agencies across the country are warning that if you drive drunk this holiday season you will be pulled over.

If anyone should have known that, one would think a two-time offender would, but the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 40-year old Glenn Jones of 2951 Trenton Road, Clarksville on his third charge of DUI near the 16 mile-marker of the Pennyrile Parkway Wednesday around 4:30pm.

The arrest card says Jones was southbound and crossed the center line several times. Jones refused to take field sobriety and breath tests. He had been charged twice before with DUI, twice before with driving with an open container and twice with driving on a suspended license.

Clarksville woman finds intruder in home

A Clarksville woman faced many people’s worst fear last night when she found an intruder in her home.

The report from Clarksville Police says the 36-year old female was watching television in her Dodd St. home around 7pm when she heard a noise coming from a back bedroom.

When she got up to see what it was, she saw a shadow of someone going through the side window of the bedroom and screamed. She then ran to a neighbor’s home and called 911.

The perpetrator was not able to get away with anything from the home, according to the report.

Local middle school students perform well at state event

John Langhi honored as Governor.

Nearly 250 local students recently participated in the Kentucky Youth Assembly in Louisville, which mimics the actual state legislature.

Hopkinsville Middle School student John Langhi was elected as Governor for next year’s event, while J.J. Janes reigned this year over the Youth Assembly as acting Governor.

Wyatt Langhi, from CCMS, was elected to the Leadership Council.

In addition, several bills were passed. From Hopkinsville Middle School, the premiere bill written by Morgan Demps, Caleb Gary, Taylor Harton and Andrew King was passed and signed by the KYA governor. A bill written by Lucas Pryor, Madison Alder, and Ashlynn Almon was passed in the both the House and the Senate and signed by the KYA Governor. This bill was also chosen as one of the top ten bills presented at the Capitol.

Other bills passed by House and Senate were written and presented by Mary Catherine Francis, Mary Glenn Powell, Emily McMahon, Lucy Dossett, Clarie Campbell, Kaya Dickerson, Katie Campbell, and Mary Thom Adams. Audrey Self served on this years leadership team and presided over committee meetings. Michaela Langhi was recognized as an Outstanding Delegate for HMS. Jay Camp was recognized as an Outstanding Parliamentarian.

From North Drive, the premiere bill written by Corey Hansley, Christopher Gibson, Kaitlyn Campbell, and Kran Wallace was highly ranked on Thursday night and went on to be heard in Frankfort where it passed Friday. In addition, a bill written by Raven Sibley, Alexi McGhan, Lauren Knox, and Kelsey Littlefield was highly ranked and went on to be heard on the Capitol floor. Kelsey Littlefield was recognized as an Outstanding Delegate for NDMS.

From Christian County Middle, Sam Blane, Kolbe Langhi, Alex Lancaster, and Eric Powell's bill passed both the House and Senate and was signed by the KYA Governor. Brayden Martin received the Outstanding Delegate award for CCMS.

High schoolers also performed well at the event, with a seperate story to come on that.

Hopkinsville Starbucks sold

The Hopkinsville Starbucks location has new ownership.

Costar.com reports a group called “Waldrop & Waldrop LLC” has acquired the 110 Clinic Drive location for a cost of 1.42 million dollars. Waldrop purchased the store from a company called “My Children’s Future, LLC”.

The Hopkinsville Starbucks was built and opened in 2005 and will continue normal operations under new ownership, according to the article.

Trailer reported stolen in Hopkinsville

While it’s certainly not known if it’s related to the recent Todd County incidents, a large trailer was stolen in Hopkinsville recently.

The black 18 foot car trailer with cattle boards up the sides was stolen from 809 North Main Street sometime between noon last Wednesday and 8am yesterday. No suspects are listed on the report and the trailer is valued at $1,800.      

Officials in Todd County are investigating the theft of three trailers within the last nine days and the same type of trailer was also recently stolen in Logan County.
