A Sunday morning wreck on U.S. 68-80 in Trigg County sent the driver to a Nashville hospital.
Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam says 47-year old Scarlett Sexton of Cadiz was westbound around 8:38am when she lost control of her vehicle and ran off the road just west of Hilltop Market.
Ms. Sexton’s vehicle traveled about 485 feet down an embankment, striking several trees in the process. The Trigg County Rescue Squad had to extricate Ms. Sexton from the wreckage. A helicopter took her to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she is listed in critical, but stable condition.

A Hopkinsville man who was attempting to break up a fight was stabbed three times at a downtown night club early this morning.
Hopkinsville Police say 46-year old Barry Matchem of Hopkinsville was reportedly attempting to stop a physical confrontation between a man and woman at The Depot at 425 E 9th around 1am.
Matchem was reportedly stabbed twice in the leg and once in the head and was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Matchem had already been taken to Jennie Stuart before anyone called HPD in regard to the assault.

No suspects are listed on a report of a shooting on Mechanic St. from yesterday afternoon.
The incident happened around 3:30 near the intersection of Mechanic and Howell Streets, according to the report from Hopkinsville Police, which says 51-year old Elvis Langley of Hopkinsville told officers he had been walking when he felt a pain to his right knee.
A bullet had gone all the way through his knee, though he told police he never heard a gunshot and that no one was around him. Langley was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment and the investigation continues.

Crews from at least four volunteer fire departments responded to a fire at a north Christian County business this morning.
The initial call went out around 6:30 to a fire at Tina’s Bar and Grill at 18360 Madisonville Road. Responders from Crofton and Mannington found flames and smoke coming from the one-story structure upon arrival and called for mutual aid from the White Plains and South Hopkins Fire Departments.
Very significant damage has been done to the structure, according to initial reports. The State Fire Marshall’s office was called in to investigate.

Two computers were stolen from a car on E 12th St. sometime yesterday morning.
The theft happened sometime between 2:30 and 10:30 near 836 E. 12th, according to the police report. 28-year old Carla Torian of Hopkinsville told officers someone removed two laptops valued at a total of $1,500. The perpetrators also egged her vehicle before fleeing the scene.
