Kristopher Wyvell

A Hopkinsville man was arrested last night for allegedly attacking a police officer who was trying to help him.

Police were called to 1009 Moayon St. around 10 and allegedly found 18-year old Kristopher Wyvell lying in the floor and saying he was “dying.” Officer Matthew Overby writes it was apparent Wyvell was intoxicated on an mixture of alcohol and an unknown substance and an ambulance was called at Wyvell’s request to take him to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Wyvell allegedly became combative at the emergency room and allegedly attempted to punch Officer Overby in the face, missing by only inches. Wyvell was arrested after treatment and charged with 3^rd Degree Assault of a police officer.

Anthony Burgess

The man who was shot in self-defense by a State Trooper in Christian County last Saturday has been released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A news release from KSP says 29-year old Anthony Burgess of Oak Grove waived extradition and is now in the Christian County Jail. Burgess was shot by Trooper James McArthur on Rosetown Road December 3^rd when he allegedly accelerated toward the officer who was on foot in an apparent attempt to run him over.
Burgess kept driving until finally being pulled over on Arthur Henderson Road in Todd County. A helicopter took Burgess from there to Vanderbilt, where he remained for eight days. He is charged with Wanton Endangerment, Attempted Murder of a police officer, 2^nd degree Assault and fleeing from police.

Only two of the 50 cows which escaped a fenced in area in Caldwell County and walked onto the Western Kentucky Parkway Saturday morning remain at large.
The Highway Department says extra patrols have been out all weekend looking for the cattle, which made their way through a break in the fence before daylight Saturday and closed a 12 mile stretch of the four-lane highway for about four hours.
At least five wrecks occurred, but no human injuries were reported. Motorists driving through Caldwell County are advised to be cautious and to call 911 if one of the two missing cows is spotted.

Hopkinsville Police are investigating the report of shots fired near a West 16^th Street residence last night.

The incident happened about ten minutes before midnight at 441 W. 16^th, where Barbara Baker told officers she heard gunshots outside of her residence.

When police arrived, they found five shell casings in the roadway, which were taken into evidence. No suspects are listed on the report.

At least $8,000 worth of furniture is missing from a rental home on Chateugay Drive.

The rental property’s owner, Gregory Cager, told Hopkinsville Police last night around 8 that a former tenant removed all of the furniture out of his fully furnished house when they moved out.

A suspect is listed on the report, with the investigation continuing.
