A Dawson Springs man was booked into the Caldwell County Jail this morning and is facing murder charges for allegedly driving while impaired and wrecking his vehicle which claimed the life of his passenger.

In addition to the murder charge, Kentucky State Police charged 25-year old Jeffery Alfred with 2^nd offense DUI- aggravated circumstances and leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid or assist.

According to state police, Alfred was driving southbound on KY 672 when he lost control of his truck, causing it to leave the right side of the roadway and hit a tree.

Alfred’s passenger, 28-year old Thomas Redden of Dawson Springs was transported by ambulance to Caldwell County Medical Center, where he succumbed to his severe injuries and was pronounced dead.

The investigation into the fatal wreck remains open and is being handled by Joseph Bartolotti.

Kentucky State Police responded to a wreck with injuries that occurred near U.S. 41 in Muhlenberg County this morning.

According to state police, 31-year old David Brooks of Central City was driving southbound on U.S. 41 in Browder when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, which caused his truck to cross both lanes of traffic, overturn into an embankment.

Brooks and his 11-year old passenger Makayla Wilson of Central City were both transported by ambulance to Muhlenberg County Hospital for treatment.

Police say the crash occurred just before noon and the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department, Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department, Drakesboro Volunteer Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted with the wreck.

A teen murder suspect is scheduled to appear in Christian Circuit Court tomorrow afternoon.

19-year old Dwight Wisdom of Princeton is charged with one count of murder for his alleged role in the December 4^th fatal shooting of 26-year old Eric Jones of Cadiz at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.

After a brief man hunt, the 19-year old murder suspect turned himself into the custody of investigators at the McCracken County Jail.

As previously reported, a preliminary hearing for Wisdom was held at the Christian County Justice Center in the interest of greater security.

During the hearing, State Police Detective John Simms testified that the shooting was a result of a conflict that began between rival groups from Trigg Caldwell Counties.

A Clarksville resident detained three alleged vehicle burglars early this morning until police could come and make the arrests.

A news release from Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says Joseph Demille of Summerhaven Road called 911 just after midnight about three teenagers who appeared to be scoping out houses and attempting to break into vehicles on Lamont Court.

A security light and noises outside of his home initially got Demille’s attention and he followed the boys after they left the area of his home. While waiting for police to arrive, Demille witnessed the trio allegedly getting into unlocked cars on Lamont and that’s when he detained them until law enforcement could get there.

Arrested on three counts of Vehicle Burglary were 19-year old Dylan Engle of Broadripple Road, 18-year old Mathew Merill of Tiny Town Road and a 16-year old juvenile.

The trio reportedly admitted to the break-ins, but said they were looking for loose change to buy sodas at a nearby store. Their efforts brought them five dollars in change and a trip to the Montgomery County Jail.

Officials with Kentucky State Police say three people lost their lives on Kentucky Roadways over the Christmas holiday weekend.

All three victims were in motor vehicles and two of the three were not wearing a seat belt. The wrecks happened in Hardin, Hart and Warren Counties between Friday at 6pm and Monday night at 11:59.

Through Monday, 709 people had lost their lives on Kentucky roadways, which is 45 less than the number from a year ago. Of those 709, 564 were in motor vehicles and 287 of those were not wearing a seat belt.

Tragically, 118 lives have been lost on Kentucky roadways this year in wrecks involving the use of alcohol.
