There is a new chairman of the Jennie Stuart Medical Center Board of Trustees.

A news release from the hospital says Theresa Nichol was elevated from the position of secretary-treasurer to chairperson.

Ms. Nichol has served on the board for nearly five years.

Elected as vice-chair was Ray Cobb, Earl Calhoun was voted secretary-treasurer and Wilson Sisk as member at-large.

No one was injured in an attempted home invasion on South Virginia Street last night.

The report from Hopkinsville Police says 41-year old Kimberly Daniels called the ECC after someone knocked on her front door and showed her a handgun. The suspect then attempted to kick the door in, but was unsuccessful.

The unknown male fled the scene before police arrived. Officers did a neighborhood canvas, but were unable to locate the alleged perpetrator.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, wearing a burgundy hooded sweat jacket, black shirt and a bandana across his face.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating three significant thefts this week.

The first happened at a construction site on Princeton Road, where Pembroke resident Joe Rives told deputies someone removed $1,200 worth of copper that would take $1,800 worth of labor to replace as it was.

Rives used a gun to stop copper thieves in their tracks last summer after being victimized on multiple occasions.

The second report came from Kem Stacey of International Systems, which has a construction site on Gate 7 road near Oak Grove. Stacey told police someone broke open the front door and stole a saw, two drills, several thousand feet of wiring, a laptop and a impact wrench.

The total value of the items came to nearly $3,000. There are no suspects listed on either report.

The most recent incident was reported Thursday at 2365 Empire Road near Crofton, where James Bullock said someone stole a generator, boat battery, rifle totaling $1,690 in value.

A suspect is listed on that report, with all three investigations ongoing.

Alcohol was allegedly involved in the wreck in downtown Hopkinsville yesterday that sent a woman to the hospital and caused traffic problems.

The incident happened around 10:21 at the intersection of East 6^th and South Virginia, according to the report from city police, which says 42-year old Laura Olson of Crofton was northbound on South Virginia when she hit a utility pole.

Olson reportedly said she was distracted by talking on her cell phone and allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking crack cocaine prior to driving.

She was charged with her third DUI and blood tests are pending.

Kentucky State Police responded to a two-vehicle wreck with injuries that occurred this morning on Kentucky 70, about 4 miles west of Browder.

State Police report 46-year old Carol Wells of Belton, KY, stopped at the stop sign on KY 22-70 East at the intersection of KY 70 East and then pulled out in front of the vehicle driven by 29-year old Christopher Pitts of Belton, KY.

Ms. Wells stated that another vehicle was stopped on KY 70 in the westbound lanes waiting to turn onto KY 2270 and motioned for her to turn.
As a result of the wreck, the vehicle driven by Wells came to rest in the middle of the intersection, while the vehicle driven by Pitts traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway facing east.

Wells was reportedly transported by ambulance to the Owensboro Medical Center for treatment and no other injuries were reported.

The Beechmont Volunteer Fire Department and Muhlenberg County EMS also assisted at the scene.
