CCSO investigating alleged child abuse

A child abuse investigation is underway by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office after a 2-year old boy came home from an overnight trip with bruising Friday morning.

The mother of the toddler said her son returned from a Quisenberry Lane residence with large bruises on his upper thighs and buttocks. She said the bruises are the size and shape of an adult’s hand.

Deputy Wade Connnel writes on the report that he checked the injury with the mother present and the bruises were as she described.

Local woman invites everyone to Friday prayer events

With so much negative news in the area and across the world over the last several weeks, a local woman has taken it upon herself to organize a weekly Hopkinsville “prayer circle.”

Christian County Probation/Parole Officer Kathy Leslie says beginning this Friday, there will be community prayer at Little River Park by the fountain and will continue every Friday thereafter.

Ms. Leslie says the prayer circle will be held rain or shine and says the circle is open to all who wish to participate. She wants it to be a citywide effort and says there has already been more interest than she ever expected.

Once again, the prayer circle will be every Friday at noon at Little River Park next to the fountain.

An arrest was made yesterday morning after Hopkinsville Police responded to a burglary in progress.

The arrest card says officers were dispatched to 1201 Broad Street for a possible ongoing burglary just before 9am. When police arrived, they reportedly found 56-year old Marvin Greenwade walking from the rear south side of the residence holding some type of cutting tool.

Greenwade was reportedly pushing a shopping cart taken from Big Lots with five circuit breakers with cut wires hanging from them. A check of the residence revealed all but one circuit breaker had been cut from the breaker box and the wiring on the breakers in the shopping cart matched the ones left in the home.

Greenwade was arrested and charged with Burglary and Possession of Burglary Tools and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Terrance Christian

A Hopkinsville man was arrested yesterday on Cypress St. after running from police.

Officers were called to 636 Cypress around 2:45pm with someone asking police to remove 29-year old Terrance Christian from the residence. Upon arrival of police, Christian allegedly took off on foot and ran to the dead end of Cypress before giving himself up.

A search of Christian’s person revealed a baggy of white rocks that ultimately tested negative for cocaine. Police say the rocks were packaged in a way consistent with how cocaine rocks are sold, but they would turn out to only be rocks of drywall.

Christian was charged with Fleeing from Police, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and Possession for Sale of a Simulated Controlled Substance.
