A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house are scheduled for tomorrow for the new Cumberland Hall Hospital.

A news release says the event will run from 2 until 5 at the new facility on Sam Walton Way near the Wal-Mart Distribution Center.

Construction began on the building in June and the doors will open to patients Monday. Key features in the facility include an on-site accredited school, fully-equipped gymnasium and additional indoor and outdoor recreation space.

Officials hope the extra space will reduce the number of patients that wait for a hospital bed and address the tremendous treatment needs of patients and their families.

A Clarksville man was arrested on drug charges last night after a wreck on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

No one was injured in the incident that happened around 6:15 near the intersection with Askew Service Road.

The report from Hopkinsville Police says 31-year old Edwin Lauderback of Clarksville was northbound when he saw a vehicle approaching him from behind at a high rate of speed.

Lauderback said he sped up, but was still rear-ended by 31-year old Christopher Hott of Clarksville. Hott reportedly told the other driver he had to “get rid of his stash” before police got there, but his efforts would prove to be unsuccessful.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Todd Dearmond and a state trooper found prescription pills and synthetic drugs in the ditch near the wreck scene and arrested Hott on DUI charges after he failed field sobriety tests.

Hott is also charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Hott reportedly told police he discarded the items because he didn’t think he was supposed to be driving while taking the pills.

Those who live or work in Hopkinsville are reminded of the weekly “Prayer in the Park” events each Friday.

Christian County Probation and Parole Officer Kathy Leslie says the events are at noon each Friday at Little River Park at the intersection of 9^th and Bethel Streets.

Ms. Leslie says the event continues to grow in the first few weeks and that everyone of every denomination is welcome to attend.

Once again, Prayer in the Park is every Friday at noon and is held rain or shine.

A rear-end collision on Skyline Drive yesterday afternoon injured a Hopkinsville woman.

The incident happened around 4:30 at the railroad crossing, according to the report from Hopkinsville Police, which says 47-year old Sandera Chiles of Hopkinsville stopped when the gates came down and red lights started flashing.

Approaching her from behind was 19-year old Chyna Johnson of Hopkinsville, who reportedly told police she saw Ms. Chiles stop, move forward again and then come to a stop.

Ms. Johnson said she slammed on her brakes, but could not stop in time to avoid a collision.

Ms. Chiles was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment, with everyone involved wearing a seat belt.

Hopkinsville Police are investigating the theft of a car from a city residence yesterday morning.

The report says Tonie Ypma told officers he left his 1999 Ford Contour running at 313 South Cleveland Avenue around 7:30 and that an unknown suspect drove off in it.

The vehicle is valued at $2,500.
