Bowling Green man shot by Deputy in self defense

A Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy reportedly shot a Bowling Green man last night in self-defense.
According to Kentucky State Police, preliminary investigation indicates Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy, Captain Maxie Jones responded to a disturbance call at 32-93 Garrett Hollow Road where 51-year old Richard Humphrey of Bowling Green allegedly brandished a firearm at Captain Jones.
State Police say Humphreys was shot in the upper left shoulder after Captain Jones made several verbal commands for him to drop his gun, but instead of obeying the verbal commands, the Greenville man allegedly raised his gun towards Jones.
Jones reportedly shot two rounds from his weapon, striking the 51-year old once in the upper left shoulder.
Humphrey was taken to the medical center in Bowling Green and was later flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

State Police say Humphrey's injury appears to be non life threatening at this time and Captain Maxie Jones has been placed on administrative leave, which police say is the protocol in such cases.
