Local man in Nashvile hospital after Sunday night beating
A Hopkinsville man was beaten unconscious last night and was taken to a Nashville Hospital for his injuries, while police look for three suspects accused in the assault.
The report from Hopkinsville Police says the incident happened around 8:45 at 1021 North Main St, where 18-year old Brandon Gard of Hopkinsville showed up after a friend invited him.
Once there, Gard was attacked by three men who gave him a concussion, a swollen and black eye and a fractured skull. The victim was first taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, but was later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to treat his bleeding fractured skull.
Police believe Gard was attacked because he had taken some items the suspects had stolen back to the Kangaroo Mart on North Main. It was unknown if the suspects used any type of weapon in the attack.

HPD chases vehicle to Clarksville
What would have been a traffic stop for speeding turned into a chase that went across the state line last night.
Hopkinsville Police Officer Edward Eastman attempted to pull over a vehicle on Fort Campbell Boulevard around 10:30 that was reportedly going 70 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
The vehicle continued on and the chase extended to Clarksville, before the driver allegedly stopped and ran from the vehicle. Three female passengers stayed with the vehicle and were reportedly unwilling participants in the incident.
The suspect was able to get away, but Hopkinsville Police believe they know his name and address. If arrested, he will be charged with fleeing from police, wanton endangerment and driving on a suspended license.

Hopkinsville man charged with burglary
Hopkinsville Police responded to a burglary in progress on Denzil Drive last night and arrested the suspect who was still around.
Arrested around on 11pm on 2nd degree burglary charges was 27-year old Marques Dewayne Phillips of Hopkinsville, who allegedly kicked a door open at a 2100 Denzil Drive apartment, where 18-year old Elizabeth Floyd told officers he would have came in had she not slammed the door back closed on him.
The report says alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, with Phillips reportedly having an issue with someone inside the residence.

Four injured in Muhlenberg wreck
Four people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Muhlenberg County Saturday night.
The report from Kentucky State Police says the incident happened around 11:30 on Kentucky Highway 171.
Police say 20-year old Jolena Wilson of Dunmor was southbound when she crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by 20-year old Kendrick Davis of Greenville.
Davis and three passengers—19-year old Zack Sutton, 23-year old James Sutton and 20-year old Michael Civils of Browder—were taken to Muhlenberg County Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Wilson and her passengers went uninured.

Hopkinsville man dead after being hit by train
A Hopkinsville man is dead after being hit by a train in the city last night while sitting down on the tracks—though police do not believe it was suicide.
The incident happened about five minutes before midnight near Parrish Place, though there wasn’t an actual railroad crossing in the immediate area.
The police report says the CSX train was traveling northbound on the railroad tracks between Woodmill Dr. and East 21st St. and that 34-year old Corey Majors of Hopkinsville was “doubled over” sitting on the tracks.
The train conductor, 35-year old Curtis Bryant, said Majors did not react to the train’s horn and that he never even lifted his head. Majors was pronounced dead on the scene from his injuries.
It was the second time in two weeks that a train was involved in an accident in Christian County, with no one injured March 29th when a tractor-trailer was struck as the driver attempted to cross on S. Main St. in Pembroke and didn’t make it.
Only the very back of the trailer was hit that time and the main result was heavy damage to the trailer and crossing gates—but no injuries.
Hopkinsville Police say the same crew was on board the train in last night’s incident that manned the engine in the Pembroke collision, though neither incident was the fault of the train conductor.
Officers say Bryant and the crew were visibly upset over last night’s fatal incident.
