A new mother from Todd County recently received a special gift from a Tennessee Church at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on Fort Campbell.

A women’s group from First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee brought more than 80 layette sets to the Army hospital Tuesday to be given to newborn babies to show their appreciation and support to military families.

During their visit, Mandy Ervin of Allensville was able to meet one of the ladies and personally thank her for their work of love.

Ms. Ervin introduced baby Grace to Sue Heinze and said the gift was even more special because she and her husband do not have family in the area and the people who brought the gift didn’t even know them.

The sets include a hand made blanket and newborn clothing, given to babies born in the hospital.

It only took a few hours for one of this week’s Crime Stoppers Fugitives of the Week to be found and arrested.

An anonymous tip led to police finding and arresting 44-year old Terrance McKnight of Hopkinsville at the Pennyrile Village Apartments around 10:30 Wednesday morning.

McKnight was charged with six counts of contempt of court and probation violation.

Two arrests have been made in connection with an alleged assault at a Hopkinsville convenience store from last week.

The incident happened last Thursday around 9:20 at the Fort Campbell Boulevard Max Fuel Express, where police investigated a verbal altercation that became physical which. Officers found 36-year old Corey Parker of Hopkinsville lying on the round heavily bleeding, after he was punched so hard in the back of the head that his forehead struck a steel support post.

Arrested on 2^nd degree assault charges last night around 10:20 were 21-year old John Fairley and 21-year old Derek Bailey, both of Hopkinsville. Fairley is accused of being the one who punched Parker and Bailey allegedly drove Fairley away from the scene.

Both men were lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Gas prices are already high and the summer driving season is likely to drive them up even more.

The average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Kentucky is $3.91, while the average in Tennessee is listed at about $3.71.

Prices in Hopkinsville average about $3.76, though they range from $3.63 to $3.89—according to gasbuddy.com.

Roger Boyd of “Triple A” Kentucky says motorists shouldn’t be surprised by the recent spike in prices—as it comes as the traditional spring break driving season begins.

Boyd says prices won’t fall anytime soon, considering it’s only a few weeks until schools will be out for the summer.

Prices may not rise above four dollars this spring, but they are not expected to fall any lower than they are now.

Another sex crime is under investigation in the area, with a Caldwell County man arrested by State Police on a charge of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.

Charged with 643 counts of that offense following an investigation by State Police Detective Dan Mork was 41-year old James C. Owen of Princeton.

Owen was charged after officers searched the residence on East Market Street in Princeton last night.
