CCSO investigating Greenville Road theft

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of several guns from a Greenville Road residence.

Darren Meacham told deputies that someone came to his 3680 Greenville Road address late last week and broke into two sheds behind his home.

The suspect pried open a gun safe and took nine guns worth about $2,000. The suspect also stole a five gallon bucket filled with coins valued at about $1,000.

No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.

Elkton man accused of chasing neighbor with knife to receive mental evaluation

The man accused of chasing his neighbor down the street with a knife in Elkton last month will receive a mental evaluation after court action yesterday.

33-year old John Dukes, who resided at 601 South Streets Avenue on March 18th, appeared in Todd District Court for a preliminary hearing on wanton endangerment charges.

Another hearing was scheduled in two weeks so Dukes could be evaluated.

Elkton Police arrested Dukes around 12:20 March 18th after he allegedly beat on the apartment wall of his neighbor—27-year old Brandon Carrol—and met him outside with a 10-inch knife when he came outside.

Carrol said Dukes made a stabbing motion and chased him down the street until he was able to stop a passing vehicle to get help. Dukes allegedly tried to run from Elkton Police Sgt. Rodney Moberly, but was caught about 50 yards from his apartment.

The knife used in the incident was found in Dukes’ kitchen sink and he allegedly admitted to committing the crime.

Calloway Co. wreck injures two

Two people were injured in a wreck in Calloway County yesterday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police say 19-year old Katryn Parrish of Murray was southbound on Butterworth Road around 1:30 and came to a complete stop at the intersection with Kentucky Highway 94.

Ms. Parrish then pulled into the path of a westbound vehicle driven by 67-year old Mary Robertson of Murray. Ms. Robertson attempted to swerve, but struck the Parrish vehicle in the driver’s side.

Both drivers were taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, with Ms. Parrish later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

HPD investigates burglary

Hopkinsville Police are investigating a burglary complaint on Maplelawn Street from last night.

Officers were called to 107 Maplelawn just after 11:30, where 45-year old Nathaniel Brown of Hopkinsville said a female had knocked on his door and forced her way inside when he answered.

The named suspect allegedly punched him in the face after Brown told her to leave and began yelling at him. The woman then allegedly threw a glass lid that went with a pan at Brown, hitting him on the ankle.

The suspect left after police were called and the investigation continues.

Woman killed in Logan Co. wreck

A Russellville woman was killed in a head-on collision in Logan County last night.

A news release from the Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whittaker says the incident happened around 6:30 on Montgomery Road in Auburn.

Police say 42-year old Tracy Leigh White of Stevenson Mill Road, Russellville was northbound on Montgomery Road when she crossed into the path of an oncoming pickup truck driven by 37-year old Amy Roberts of Matlock Road, Auburn who was unable to avoid a collision.

Ms. White was pronounced dead on the scene by Logan County Coroner Mary Givens from numerous injuries. Logan County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Kitchens is the investigating officer.
