Clarksville church vandalized

Clarksville Police are investigating a case of severe vandalism at a church.

Officers responded to Madison Street Church of Christ Sunday morning when Joel Ragland of the church found significant damage when he arrived. The main office window was damaged and the suspect or suspects had ransacked numerous offices and damaged three doors.

The perpetrator used a fire extinguisher to bust out a glass door to the main office and all office doors were kicked in. Several pieces of unopened mail were also destroyed.

The investigation continues and no suspects are listed on the report.

CCSO investigating theft of two dogs

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of two hunting dogs from over the weekend.

The two brown and white Walker Coon Hounds were stolen sometime between 8 and 5 Friday from 4175 Gilkey Lane, according to the report, which lists the owner as 17-year old Cody Gresham of that address.

Gresham said the animals were in their kennel when he left for school, but gone when his brother checked on them later in the day. A suspect is listed on the report and the investigation continues.

Alcohol reportedly a factor in Lyon Co. wreck

Alcohol was reportedly a factor in a wreck in Lyon County last night that sent the driver to the hospital and then to jail.

State Police say 22-year old Richard Thompson, Jr. of Kuttawa was southbound on Kentucky Highway 810 when he ran off the road in a curve and hit an embankment.

Thompson’s vehicle went airborne and came to final rest in a field. He was taken by private vehicle to Caldwell County Hospital, where he was treated and released into the custody of police who charged him with DUI and lodged him in the Caldwell County Jail.

Thompson is also charged with failing to report an accident, leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence.

Two children injured in U.S. 68-80 wreck

Two children were hurt in a wreck on U.S. 68-80 on the east side of Hopkinsville yesterday morning.

The report from Hopkinsville Police says 35-year old Jeri Harris of Hopkinsville was eastbound near the airport when someone in front of her began to slow down.

Ms. Harris said she applied her brakes, but slid on the wet pavement into a utility pole. She then continued on into a fence, before her car finally came to rest.

Two passengers—7-year old Joshua Harris and 9-year old Abigail Adams of Hopkinsville—were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Moped wreck injures Hopkisnville teens

Rainy conditions may have contributed to a wreck involving a moped on Russellville Road yesterday afternoon that sent two teens to the hospital.

The incident happened around 4:20, according to Hopkinsville Police, which says 18-year old Chelsea Hancock of Hopkinsville was westbound in front of Western State Hospital when she said she hit a pot hole and lost control of the moped.

Ms. Hancock and her passenger, 13-year old Amber Borders of Hopkinsville, were thrown to the pavement and had to be taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for head and neck pain.

Neither girl was wearing a helmet, according to the report.
