Hopkinsville man charged with assault

A Hopkinsville man was arrested on assault charges last night after he allegedly stabbed a woman in the foot with a knife.

Officers responded to the Hickory Ridge Apartment Complex around 10:45 to the report of a disturbance and found 52-year old Carolyn Vincont of Hopkinsville with a stab wound in her foot.

Ms. Vincont told police that 46-year old Lenzy Jackson of Hopkinsville had become angry at her over her vehicle running out of gas and that he held the knife to her throat, threatening to kill her.

The victim said Jackson stabbed her in the foot as she tried to run away. Ms. Vincont was treated for her wound at Jennie Stuart Medical Center and Jackson was lodged in the Christian County Jail on 1st degree assault charges.

Hunters find body in Hopkins Co.

Hunters in Hopkins County found the body of a woman missing since late March Friday.

Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputy Will Coursey says the men discovered the body of 35-year old Brandi Phelps near the old Homestead Mines in Nortonville. The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Louisville and was identified using dental records.

Ms. Phelps had been reported missing March 31st from her home in the Nortonville area. Police say there were no initial signs of traumatic injury though the investigation continues and a toxicology report is due in about six weeks.

Todd Fiscal Court to discuss budget

Todd County Fiscal Court will meet in special session tomorrow night to discuss the drafting of a budget.

The 7pm session will be held in its regular location in the courthouse, with Juge Executive Darryl Greenfield saying he believes he has as good and fiscally conservative budget for Magistrates to look over.

Judge Greenfield says he can’t predict what the five magistrates will do, but he plans to go forward without raising taxes on anyone.

The special meeting is just the first step in passing a spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year.

Madisonville man critical after wreck

A young Madisonville man is in critical condition after a wreck in Hopkins County last night.

A news release from Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Bailey says 23-year old Miles Stanley of Brown Road, Madisonville was traveling on that roadway near the Eastlawn Road intersection around 8:50 when he ran off the pavement and traveled 200 feet before hitting a culvert.

Stanley’s vehicle went airborne and flipped several times before finally coming to rest on its side in a field. Stanley was taken to Regional Medical Center, before being transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville in critical condition.

Hopkins Co. man charged with sexual abuse

A Hopkins County man has been arrested on charges that he sexually assaulted a young girl.

Facing two counts of first degree sexual abuse is 34-year old Samuel Back of Nortonville, who allegedly sexually abused the 14-year old girl in June of 2010.

Back was arrested at the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
