The Christian County Board of Education met tonight and approved a tentative budget for the 2013-14 school year.
Board Chairman Barry Cornelius says the budget is a work in progress and reflects a $700,000 cut in federal money.
The proposed budget has to be submitted to the Kentucky Department of Education for review by May 30th and does not include cost saving measures the board recently approved.
The working budget, which will reflect cost saving opportunities and other changes will be presented to the school board sometime in September.
The school board also discussed several proposals from various businesses to provide school nurses during the upcoming school year with the Christian County Health Department withdrawing their proposal and Cornelius explaining why they decided to rescind their proposal.
The board then went into closed session and took no action concerning pending litigation.
During tonight's meeting, a June 4th special called school board meeting and workshop and a June 20th regular school school board meeting was established.
