Kentucky State Police in Madisonville held a ceremonies today to honor troopers who have been killed in the line of duty.
State Police honored 28-year old Trooper Cecil W. Uzzle, who was fatally injured in a vehicle collision on May 28th, 1964, while accompanying Trooper Elmer Mobley Jr. in response to a call for assistance in Pike County. Trooper Mobley was also killed.
State Police also recognized 25-year old Trooper Joseph Ward Jr., who died April 23rd, 1973, after being hit by a vehicle, while investigating a vehicle collision on the Pennyrile Parkway in Christian County.
Police say Trooper Ward sacrificed his life by pushing a subject out of the path of an oncoming vehicle.
The fallen troopers were honored as part of national Police Memorial Week.
