Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are seeking public input on highway projects.
Officials are encouraging residents to voice their opinions and concerns on proposed goals for increasing disadvantaged business enterprise involvement in highway projects.
Transportation Cabinet Secretary Mike Hancock says the public is encouraged to comment and seek questions on how officials ensure disadvantaged businesses are represented fairly when cabinet projects are awarded during public state-wide forums.
A public forum is scheduled to take place in Hopkinsville from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express.
The KYTC Office for Civil Rights and Small Business Development, which oversees the cabinet’s DBE program is proposing an annual DBE participation goal of 7 percent for federal fiscal year 2014, which begins on October 1st.
Under the U.S. Department of Transportation rules, the new goal will be in effect for 3-years.
Written comments will be accepted until July 10th and can be submitted online for more information, contact 1-800-928-3079.
