First Lady of Kentucky Jane Beshear recently announced that the community of Dawson Springs has been named the state's first Trail Town.
Ms. Beshear made the announcement as part of an effort to promote and develop adventure tourism opportunities throughout Kentucky.
According to the Governor's Office, Trail Towns is a designation and assistance program that will guide travelers to trails, food, lodging, campgrounds, museums, entertainment and other services.
State officials say the designation will also help communities improve their tourism economy, add more jobs and more tourism opportunities.
Over 30 communities have already started the application process to become a Trail Town.
