There were over 100 wrecks in the city of Hopkinsville for the third month in a row in April, though this year's totals are slightly below last year's at this point.
Statistics released by the Hopkinsville Police Department show there were 107 wrecks in the city limits in April, the exact same number as there was in April of last year. The 107 was two more than in March and represented the highest tally of any month so far this year.
There has been one traffic fatality in the city limits this year—the same number as the total for 2012. HPD has placed an extra emphasis on enforcement in high collision areas in the city over the last several months—specifically the Fort Campbell Boulevard and West 7th Street areas.
