A local man is trying to collect a tractor-trailer full of items to help the families of West, Texas impacted by last week's fertilizer plant explosion.
Jeremy VanKirk has set up collection points at Latham's Tire, Clearview Auto, Toyota of Hopkinsville, Sisk Automall, Pennyrile Ford, Garland Nissan, Patriot Chevrolet, Fastenal and other locations in the city.
He says two trucking companies have said they may be willing to help get the items to the community near Waco if he is able to collect a trailer full. VanKirk, who is a native of Texas, says those residents need non-perishable food supplies, medical supplies, clothes, toys, pet supplies and building materials.
He says any help local residents can provide would be greatly appreciated.
