A Clarksville man was taken in custody for allegedly fatally attacking his mother.
Clarksville Police charged 42-year old Lee Dewayne Watts of the city with Criminal Homicide in the death of his 60-year old mother Ethel Adamson on Sunday, April 7th.
As previously reported, police were called to the 722 Central Avenue residence of Adamson that she shared with her son.
Police say upon arrival Ms. Adamson was found alive, but unconscious and that she had sustained a head wound.
Shortly after police arrived, she was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Lifeflight where she died on Tuesday April 9th.
During the processing of the crime scene, police say several items were collected from the home and turned into evidence, including a hammer. CPD says Watts was developed as a suspect early in the investigation.
Police say preliminary investigation revealed that Watts had hit his mother in the head with a hammer and left the house with her money.
