Officials with the 101st Sustainment Brigade will be hosting a ceremony Friday morning to officially mark their departure to Afghanistan.
About 300 soldiers from the headquarters element of the 101st Sustainment Brigade, otherwise known as the Lifeliners will be participating in a color casing ceremony at the local post on Friday.
Brigade Commander, Colonel Charles Hamilton and Brigade Command Sergeant Major, Sergeant Major Eugene Thomas Jr. will be officiating the ceremony.
Military officials say the 101st Sustainment Brigade will case their colors in preparation for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, later this spring.
Officials say once in Afghanistan, the 101st Sustainment Brigade will manage part of the complex logistics behind an orderly drawdown of troops and equipment, along with the transfer of security responsibilities to Afghan security forces.
