Another unit assigned to the 101st Airborne Division is preparing to deploy to Afghanistan in the coming months.
Command staff with the 4th Brigade Combat Team on Thursday will be hosting a color casing ceremony at the local post to officially mark their departure to Afghanistan.
About 3900 soldiers from the brigade will be participating in the ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at the Division Parade Field on post.
Military officials say a color casing ceremony is held to celebrate the time honored tradition of officially signifying the start of a unit’s upcoming deployment.
Prior to the ceremony, soldiers will participate in a 4-mile spirit de corps brigade run and will be inducting distinguished and honorary members into the regiment.
