Governor Steve Beshear has ordered flags at all state office buildings lowered to half-staff on Saturday in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
26-year old Sergeant Michael C. Cable of Philpot, Kentucky died March 27th from injuries he sustained when his unit was attacked by enemy forces in Shinwar District, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan.
He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Sergeant Cable will be held Saturday afternoon in Owensboro with burial services to immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Owensboro.
