The man accused of stealing a rental vehicle from a homeless woman Tuesday has been arrested, but the story has changed significantly from initial reports.

The victim had told police she picked up a wheelchair bound man with only one leg after she thought he looked tired Tuesday, but Clarksville Police now say Sabrina Taylor knew 35-year old Craig Funches and that she had previously helped him out.

A news release says Funches admitted to taking the vehicle at Taco Bell, but he reportedly made several attempts to contact Ms. Taylor by calling and texting her cell phone.

He returned the car to the rental company Wednesday and paid the balance owed. He took Ms. Taylor’s personal property to her previous residence. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of joyriding.
