A Todd County clinic that serves the working uninsured will get some much-needed financial help after a local woman applied for and received a grant recently.

Monsanto Company representative Greg Wilson presented $2,500 checks to the Helping Hands Health Clinic and to the Todd County Homemakers. Todd County farmer Kathy Dickinson applied for the grant money from the agriculture biotechnology corporation about two years ago and received an email a few weeks ago that she had been approved.

Farmers in counties which have been declared natural disaster areas by the U.S. Department of agriculture are eligible and Todd met the criteria due to last summer’s severe drought.

Helping Hands Executive Director Anita Jo Powell accepted their check and said it will go toward costs incurred as the clinic transitions to its new South Main Street location.

Wilson said the checks are presented as a way for farmers to support important causes in their counties.

Ms. Powell says the free clinic is supported solely by donations and that all financial help is needed and appreciated.
