Hemp bill passes House committee

The industrial hemp bill made it through the House Agriculture Committee this morning, but its prospects of a full house floor vote are unclear.

Ninth District State Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke is on that committee and said he believes public pressure from across Kentucky caused Chairman Tom McKee to reverse course and bring the legislation up for a committee vote.

Representative Dossett voted in favor of the bill and reminds residents that it only sets up regulations for if the federal government ever releases its restrictions on the crop.

House Speaker Greg Stumbo tells statewide media sources he isn’t sure if the bill will get a floor vote this session or not. The legislation has already passed the full Senate.
