The public is invited to attend a special-called meeting of the Pembroke City Commission Monday evening, where the recent vandalism at Rosedale Cemetery will be discussed.
City Clerk Holly Stokes says Commissioners will discuss how to proceed in getting the 44 damaged stones repaired and discuss who can and should pay for it. Ms. Stokes says a company in Clarksville has talked about making the repairs free of charge after hearing of the vandalism, but that hasn’t been finalized.
The meeting will be at 6 Monday evening at Pembroke City Hall.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year old Phillip Walker and 20-year old James Russell of Pembroke and 19-year old George Hill of Hopkinsville Wednesday on 40 counts of violating a gravesite, one count of vandalism and one count of theft by unlawful taking.
Police say the trio admitted to throwing eggs at Pembroke Baptist Church and to stealing a cross from the cemetery in addition to damaging the tombstones.
