| Todd Co. man faces drug, gun charges after Hopkinsville incident |
|
A Todd County man was charged with gun and drug crimes in Hopkinsville early this morning after an incident on the east side of town. The arrest citation by Hopkinsville Police Officer Gary Hicks says he approached 20-year old Roberto Balboa of Elkton at the corner of Belmont and East 7th Street just after midnight and asked if he had any weapons. Balboa reportedly said he had two knives and Officer Hicks told him to not reach for them. Officer Hicks writes he felt a handgun on Balboa when he went to pat him down and that Balboa allegedly fought with him and ran when he called for backup. Hicks used his tazer on Balboa, but he allegedly fled until eventually being apprehended near 511 Brown Street. Officers say they found marijuana and methamphetamine on his person. Balboa was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center to be checked out following the incident and had to be admitted. He was cited into court on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, resisting arrest, fleeing from police, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. ** 02/28/2013/am |
