About 60 people attend first 2017 solar eclipse meeting in Hopkinsville

Hundreds if not thousands of people across the nation will be descending upon Hopkinsville in August 2017 around the Princeton Road area to witness a highly anticipated solar eclipse.

The north west part of Hopkinsville is the only place in the world where the solar eclipse can be viewed the longest, a whopping two-minutes and 40 seconds.

Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention and Visitors Bureau Director, Cheryl Cook says she was thrilled to see so many land owners attend the first community solar eclipse 2017 meeting.



Mrs. Cook offered her remarks tonight during the meeting, which was held downtown at the Harper House to discuss the matter with the public.



Local officials are expecting up to 50,000 to 100,000 people to show up and witness the solar eclipse in the Hopkinsville-Christian County area.
