Kentucky State Police has ruled that a large house fire earlier in this month in Muhlenberg County was a result of arson.

No one was at home and no one was injured in the blaze February 9^th at 3721 State Route 176. The house was a total loss and crews from at least five local volunteer fire departments spent much of the night fighting the blaze.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion before seeing the large structure in flames around 8pm. Investigators from KSP and the State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated and determined it was intentionally set.

No arrests have been made and anyone with information concerning the fire should call KSP at 1-800-222-5555. Callers can remain anonymous.
