A Hopkinsville man is dead after falling from a second story apartment building porch sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Chris Aldridge says police believe 65-year old Edwin Chilton, Sr. of Hopkinsville fell to the ground from the second story porch at 1404 Canton Street and that it was purely accidental.

Chilton was a resident of the apartment building and a woman walking by the building found his body around 9:45 Saturday morning. Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes was called to the scene and pronounced him deceased.

The police report says the incident happened sometime between 10pm Friday and 9:30am Saturday. A large police presence remained at the apartment complex through the morning while detectives investigated.
