101st CG expressing concerns over looming defense budget cuts

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta today notified Congress that the Defense Department is prepared to implement furloughs for civilian personnel in response to the threat of sequestration.

Fort Campbell is one several government agencies that will be facing a significant budget cut.

Major General James McConville released a statement following Panetta’s remarks and stated he was deeply concerned about the potential impact that these cuts will have on civilian employees and military families.

McConville added that there will be a series of town hall meetings designed to inform employees and the public about the impact of these cuts.

McConville concluded his remarks by saying he couldn’t agree with Secretary Panetta more when he said the most important asset at the department is our world-class personnel and to be rest assured that the leaders of the defense department will continue to fight with you and for you.
