Hopkinsville Police K-9 injured following foot chase

A Fugitive of the Week who was featured on the February 7th Hopkinsville-Christian County Crime Stoppers program has been taken into custody.

Police charged 34-year old Bradley Ealey of Hopkinsville with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest.

The responding officer reported that around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Ealey was in possession of a handgun while he was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation on Fort Campbell Boulevard and the Pennyrile Parkway.

The officer stated Ealey was uncooperative and would not leave his hands in plain sight and while he was directed to step out of the vehicle, he fled on foot, up a hill and onto the parkway.

Police say Ealey then ran across the parkway, crossed the center median, continued across to the southbound lanes, stopped and then straddled a retaining wall and jumped 25 feet off the bridge with a police K-9, named Enzo still attached to his leg.

After Ealey fell onto the roadway below, police say he stood up and began to drag the K-9 and continued to ignore verbal commands to stop.

The officer was able to apprehend Ealey, who was found with a plastic bag of marijuana.
The K-9 suffered an injury to his right paw during the ordeal, but has since recovered and is now back on duty.
