Todd Fiscal Court commits to support Pennryile Narcotics Task Force

Narcotics Task Force Director Lori Blakely makes her case to Todd Fiscal Court

Meeting in special session, Todd County Fiscal Court approved a contribution to the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force Friday afternoon.

Task Force Director Lori Blakely addressed Fiscal Court just as she did Elkton City Council Monday evening, asking they contribute a portion of the money needed to match a federal grant that keeps the program operational.

The agency teaches educational courses on drug abuse at schools and churches in addition to its law enforcement pursuits. A federal earmark funding source has dried up and that made it all the more important for communities to continue providing funds, according to Ms. Blakely.


Fiscal Court unanimously agreed to commit to $3,100 for next year’s budget in addition to writing a check for $2,600 that had been committed for this year but that hadn’t been paid. Elkton City Council will make its final decision at a future meeting.

In other action, court made a contract with the Pennyrile Area Development District to perform administrative services in receiving the $500,000 Community Development Block Grant for the proposed Todd County Career Path Institute project. County officials are still waiting to hear back on the two million dollar grant that would make the project a reality.
