The 101^st Airborne Division will be hosting a ceremony to mark a storied unit’s activation.

Military officials say the 1-87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, otherwise known as the Rakkasans, will be celebrating its 70th anniversary with an activation ceremony.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place Wednesday, February 20^th at 10:00 a.m. at the 1-87th Infantry Regiment Pylon by the Pratt Museum.

Officials say the unit was activated in 1943, and since that time the regiment has established an unparalleled history through valorous actions in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Shield/Storm and the Global War on Terrorism.
