A local man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly pulling a handgun during a confrontation with police.

Hopkinsville Police got a call a few minutes after 11am of a black male wearing an orange hoodie carrying a handgun running from the Belmont area toward Durrett Avenue.

Officers made contact with a man meeting that description at Central Avenue and Broad Street a few minutes later. The report from Officer Jason Barnes says 19-year old Marc Cox raised his shirt when police confronted him and allegedly pulled a black handgun.

Cox did not point the gun at officers and was told to drop it four times before he let it go. Police say he then wrestled with officers before being arrested.

Cox was charged with disorderly conduct, menacing, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
