Fourteen small businesses from the southern Pennyrile were honored at this morning’s Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards at the Bruce Convention Center. One of the more prestigious awards handed out each year is the Century/50+ award, given to one of the area’s most enduring and successful businesses. This year’s award went to Hughard and Beard Funeral Home. Alan Beard talked about his experience at a local mainstay that’s been around since the 1890’s.
Receiving the Sunset Award for a business that recently shut its doors was Mobile Home City, with Jim Fleming accepting that honor.
The WHOP Non-Profit Award was accepted by Kelly Pendleton on behalf of the Fort Campbell USO, who said their work is rewarding because of whom they serve.
Robinson Construction won the Distribution Award, Polka Dot Pig took the Horizon Award, Hopkinsville Community College the Regionalism Award, HES the Distribution Award, Kenny Ellis Construction won the Residential Construction Award, Super Lawn and Garden brought home the Retail Award, The Homestead was presented the Food Service Award, Christian Way Farms the Specialized Service Award and Putty Chiropractic the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Award. ** 02/12/2013/am |
