The first Legislative Update program of 2013 was set to air this morning on Lite 98.7 and one of the major topics discussed is the idea of eliminating the prevailing wage in Kentucky.

State Senator Whitney Westerfield campaigned on that very issue and said he thought about the concept while Governor Steve Beshear talked about making tough decisions during his State of the Commonwealth Address Wednesday evening.

State Representative John Tilley says there are some good aspects of prevailing wage that help middle class workers, but said he was open to considering a compromise to make sure all policies are in line with common sense.

Representative Myron Dossett says he fears many local employers don’t bid on government jobs because of difficulties caused by the prevailing wage laws.

You can hear the program each Sunday morning at 9 on Lite 98.7.
