UPDATE: Two go to Vanderbilt hospital after I-24 wreck

Two out of state residents were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a single-vehicle wreck on I-24 Saturday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police say 25-year old Andrew Fleming of Overland Park, Kansas was westbound near the 79 mile-marker around 12:30 when crossed the left hand lane and went into the median. The vehicle went nearly 400 feet before it became airborne and flipped end over end several times before coming to rest upright.

Fleming and his passenger, 24-year old Stacey Gonzelman of Knoxville, Tennessee; were flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt. Westbound traffic was completely shut down for some time while crews landed the helicopters and cleared the scene.
