The Christian County Animal Shelter’s pet photo session fundraiser got off to a fast start Saturday morning and stayed busy through the day.

At least four cats and two dogs were accompanied by their Valentines to have a photo taken when the event began around 9am at Tractor Supply on the Bypass in Hopkinsville. The animal shelter collected five dollars per photo that could be emailed or printed or participants could buy four and get one free.

Shelby Waltz of Shelby Waltz Photography was the person behind the camera and said helping the shelter with her talents was a natural fit.

Ms. Waltz said Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace came up with the idea and she was on board immediately.

A total of $885 was raised for the “Get’em Done Program,” which works to get all shelter pets spayed or neutered before they go to forever homes.
