Some of them could be attributed to winter weather on a night or two, but there were a significant number of wrecks in Hopkinsville last month.
Numbers released by the Hopkinsville Police Department show there were 124 wrecks in January, well below the 154 from January of last year but still a high number.
Eighteen of the January wrecks resulted in injury and one resulted in a death. Four-year old Brooklyn Coleman was killed in a wreck on the Bypass January 21st when the vehicle she was riding in slid on an icy bridge and hit a guardrail.
Hopkinsville Police have focused on reducing wrecks with some success over the last few years by focusing patrols on high collision areas such as West 7th Street and Fort Campbell Boulevard.
