| City of Hopkinsville receives clean audit report |

The City of Hopkinsville received a clean audit report during tonight’s city council meeting and approved a municipal order for the local Y to operate Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center and also commended the life and achievements of long-time WHOP Early Bird Host, Jim Love who passed away late last year. City council authorized Mayor Kemp to sign-off on a contract between the city and the local Y to allow the organization to take over operations of Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center. The decision was not unanimous, but passed on a 6 to 2 vote with Councilmen Paul Henson and Wesley Grimes voting against it. Mayor Kemp explains why he felt it was a win-win situation for the community. During the awards and recognition portion of the meeting, Mayor Kemp commended the lifetime achievements of WHOP News Director and Early Bird Host, Jim Love, who passed away on December 16th after a long battle with cancer. A copy of the resolution was presented to Love’s wife, children and grand-children and WHOP General Manager Mike Chadwell also attended the meeting to show his support. In other business, a resolution to support C-E-R-S reform failed with Mayor Kemp talking about the details of the resolution. The resolution failed on a 6 to 2 vote with Council members Kim McCarley, Paul Henson, Marby Schlegel, Jimmy Dossett, Wesley Grimes and Thomas Grant voting against it. Council members Don Ahart, Ann Cherry, Patricia Bell and Phillip Brooks were absent from tonight’s city council meeting. **
