Local YMCA proposes to take over Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center operations

Hopkinsville City Council tomorrow night will decide whether or not to accept a bid proposal from the Hopkinsville-Christian County YMCA to take over operations of Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center this year.

For the past six years, the city has contracted with private companies to provide lifeguards and to operate Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center, also known as the Water Park.

Mayor Dan Kemp says the city put out bids for the contract again this past fall and received a bid from the YMCA.

Mayor Dan Kemp gives more details about YMCA’s bid.

Mayor Kemp added that he hoped city council will approve the municipal order to authorize him to sign a contract with the local YMCA.

It costs about $219,400 annually to operate and provide lifeguards at the pools.
