Clarksville Officer helps save a man's life

A Clarksville Police Sergeant is being called a hero and is being honored tomorrow after his quick thinking helped save a man’s life.

Sergeant Johnny Ferguson will be presented with a Lifesaver Award Friday morning.

The commendation narrative states on September 10th, 2012, Sergeant Ferguson responded to 422 Parker Drive in reference to a 49 year old male that collapsed and was not breathing.

Sergeant Ferguson said he checked his airway for obstructions and began chest compressions.

Medical officials noted that Sergeant Ferguson’s initial response helped stabilize the individual until more advanced equipment was available.

Sergeant Ferguson will be presented with the award at 7:30 a.m. at Police Headquarters briefing room.

The man whose life he saved will also be present for the ceremony.
