Agriculture Commissioner says veterans program off to a good start

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jamie Comer says his jobs program for veterans has gotten off to a great start.

The Kentucky Proud Homegrown by Heroes is similar to the original Kentucky Proud idea, but it encourages residents to buy products grown by military veterans.

Comer says one of the best signs he’s gotten so far that it will be successful is an interest by Wal-Mart to feature the products.

The Commissioner says the products are distinguishable by their logo that features a soldier saluting the flag.

The program is in its infant stages and Comer says he hopes to see it continue to grow in the coming months and years.
