| Two homes destroyed in Christian Co. |
|
This morning’s severe weather in Christian County left two homes destroyed and another with very severe damage at the least, according to Emergency Management Director Randy Graham. Graham was still out and about in the mid-morning hours after spending the whole night checking on storm victims and surveying damage. He says the third home may end up being a total loss considering it continued raining inside after the roof came off.
All three of those homes are on Gracey-Herndon Road and Graham says the community is very fortunate none of those families were injured considering all of the circumstances.
Graham said he had already compiled a report of the damage he knew of this morning to send to officials in Frankfort. Christian County Schools opened two hours late because of power outages and Pembroke Elementary School didn’t have class at all because the power was going to be out an extended period of time. Power poles were snapped or bent on Pembroke Road and on Fort Campbell Boulevard near Novadell in addition to the Gracey-Herndon Road area. Crews from Pennyrile Electric were working non-stop to restore power to everyone impacted. Several barns were also damaged in the Herndon area in addition to on John Rivers Road near Pembroke. Trees were also blocking several county roads at one time, though the road departments quickly worked clear those areas. ** 01/30/2013/am |
