UPDATE: Winter weather expected Thursday night, Friday morning

The National Weather Service continues to call for wintry precipitation Thursday night and early Friday morning, but the accumulation amounts are expected to be light.

Paducah Office Senior Meteorologist Chris Noles says the latest forecast models are depicting lower amounts of frozen precipitation than they were a couple of days ago.

Even so, Noles says one need not look any farther than last week to remember how only a small amount of frozen precipitation can cause traffic problems.

The official forecast calls for up to an inch of snow and sleet in the southern Pennyrile, but Noles says it will be a travel impact event first and foremost.
