An organization based out of Cadiz has made a large monetary donation to Hopkinsville Community College.
In 2010, the Cadiz Rotary Club voted to endow a scholarship program with Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, Inc. and the $50,000 gift was matched with monies from the Kentucky Community and Technical College Office of Institutional Advancement, which increased the endowment to $100,000.
HCC officials say since its initial investment, the value of the account has increased to almost $120,000.
Today, the club announced they are planning to add another $50,000 to their endowment. HCC Foundation Executive Director, Yvette Eastham stated the Foundation has asked KCTC to also match the most recent gift.
Until the match is made, officials say the local community college will pay interest in the monies to the Foundation.
The Cadiz Rotary Club’s annual radio auction raised over $208,000 last year, with a large amount of that money going towards scholarships and loan programs for area students wanting to further their education. ** (01/22/2013/MF)
