The Hopkinsville-Christian and Todd County Association of Realtors has announced the creation of an Employer-Assisted Housing Initiative.
The program will be called HOPE—short for Homeownership for Performing Employees—according to a news release that says it’s an innovative effort to work in partnership with government agencies, non-profit organizations, lenders and businesses to increase affordable homeownership opportunities.
Mayor Dan Kemp says home sales were up 17 percent in Christian County last year and he believes the program can help enhance real estate sales and help the community grow more.
The concept of the program is to offer education, counseling and financial assistance to those working full-time jobs who cannot afford to purchase their own house in the area where they work.
The news release says local realtors have already taken a class that qualifies them to work with employers who wish to offer the program to their employees. Anyone needing more information on the program should call 270-885-8365.
